IIEE assisted National Development Planning Agency (Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional/Bappenas) in preparing a modeling as an input to support background study for the Mid-Term National Development Plan Years 2015-2019. This activity was funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Integrated Energy Security & Clean Energy Model (IESCEM) was developed with objectives that can be used by energy stakeholders in analyzing energy policies. It can be used as a basis for policy making, energy planning and development in Indonesia, which includes: the measuring of energy security index, clean energy index, mapping the relationship between energy security indicators in each policy scenario and taking experts objective assessment to the degree of urgency of the energy security and clean energy indicators. In determining the clean energy index, the model has been supported by Clean 4 (four) indicators including (i) Percentage of fossil energy to total energy supply; (ii) Global warming potential; (iii) Photochemical ozone creation potential; and (iv) Acidification potential.
