Indonesian Institute for Energy Economics (IIEE) prepared a report entitled “The current and future situations of coal in Indonesia”. The study was collaborative research between IIEE and Asiam Research Institute, Japan as the donor.
The study contained cost elements of exported coal price, current situations of transport-related infrastructures for coal roads, railways ports and harbors, current production and export of coal by province, prospects or plans of development and production of coal as well as energy and coal policies adopted by new president. During the study, IIEE performed desk study, facilitated research partner to do interview with a number of stakeholders (government agencies, private sectors and associations). In addition, IIEE team together with representative of Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) and Asiam Research Institute undertook site visits to company of coal transportation services and coal producers in East Kalimantan to get a broad overview of current condition including the environment issue in coal sector.
