On 27 and 28 September 2015, the annual meeting for Energy Research Institute Network (ERIN) was held in Jakarta, Indonesia. ERIN is an academic network consists of prominent energy research institutes in the East Asia Summit (EAS) region (ASEAN+6 countries) as well as ASEAN Center for Energy (ACE) on behalf of ASEAN governmental energy organization. ERIN has a mission for preparing appropriate energy policy recommendations to energy policymakers in the EAS region and the wider community, through sharing of results of energy research studies, conducting joint energy research studies among the institutes and policy discussions at the regular network meetings. The member countries of ERIN are Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
The two-day event was held at Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) Annex Office. The event organized by Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ) and supported by the Indonesian Institute for Energy Economics (IIEE). Nearly 35 participants from 15 countries attended the event.
In the meeting on 27 September 2015, Dr. Agung Wicaksono from Performance Management Unit, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) gave welcome address and delivered presentation on “Indonesia’s Energy Sector Strategic Priority 2015-2019”. Meanwhile, the chairperson of IIEE Executive Board, Dr. Asclepias Rachmi Indriyanto delivered keynote remark and presentation on “Current Energy Issues in Indonesia”. Dr. Asclepias explained current energy issues in the field of supply, demand, financial, business, policy and regulation. She also highlighted number of fundamental changes in the country and the systemic solutions.
On 28 September 2015, IIEE as member of ERIN co-hosted the 2nd ERIN Workshop. The theme of the workshop was Energy Efficiency and Conservation Policies. At the workshop, Mr. Harris M. Yahya from Directorate of Energy Conservation (MEMR) delivered keynote remark on “Indonesia Energy Efficiency and Conservation Policy”.
Moreover, the executive director of IIEE, Dr. Hakimul Batih together with the IIEE’s researchers, Nataliawati Siahaan, Friga Siera, Yonki Alexander took part in the two-days event as observers.
